The workshop was organized jointly by the CRC, the Central European University's Center for Policy Studies, and international experts and partners of the Managing Multiethnic Communities Program of Local Government Initiative/Open Society Institute and was designed for teachers of public policy and public administration.

This CRC workshop brought together educators from a range of social, political, and economic contexts and institutions. Participants got to a better understanding of the principles that linked diversity and public administration; enhanced their knowledge and skills so as to incorporate diversity into their curriculum effectively; and clarified how public administration education/institutions could be a model of good diversity management. The workshop offered an opportunity for teachers in higher education to discuss and develop their courses and generate ideas for future cooperation.

Important Note: There are many approaches to the public management of diversity. This workshop included a session during which experienced lecturers and participants presented and discussed the theoretical frameworks and approaches that underpinned their courses. As a preparation for this session, applicants were asked to submit a one-page description of their approach to diversity, as it related to their course design. Applicants could refer to specific authors, works, theories, or broad approaches with which they were familiar. This short description had to be attached to the application package when submitted to the CRC.

The workshop was designed jointly by the CRC, the Center for Policy Studies, and international experts of the Managing Multiethnic Communities Program of LGI/OSI. This was the second workshop on this theme co-organized by these institutions.
