Reshaping Globalization: Multilateral Dialogues and New Policy Initiatives
The Center for Policy Studies, in cooperation with the Center for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalization of the University of Warwick and the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the CEU, organized the international conference Reshaping Globalization: Multilateral Dialogues and New Policy Initiatives. The conference was held at the CEU between 17-19 October, with the participation of 48 scholars, national and international level policy makers and NGO activists from all over the world. CPS staff took full responsibility for the preparation and management of the event.
As the title of the conference suggests, the proceedings focused not only on the in-depth analysis of the important issues that raise relating to globalization - more specifically global institutions, global governance, global social values, global trade, global aid and global justice - but very much on the dialogue between the different parties of the debate. The represented viewpoints were both from the relevant international organizations and international financial and trade institutions as well as from some of the most important organizations representing the global citizen's movement. Along with the active participants of the globalization debate several prominent academics provided the in-depth analytic aspect to the conference.
With this conference the organizers attempted to target a global audience. In addition to the possibility of free registration to the conference, the proceedings of the conference were made available live on the Internet site of the CPS and were made available in an archived format for a month after the conference. CPS also published a book on the topic in 2003. The book is available under Publications.
