Call for applications: Erasmus Mundus visiting scholars

Central European University (CEU) Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is seeking short-term visiting scholars. The European Commission supports academics contributing to Mundus MAPP by special scholarships under the Erasmus Mundus Programme. Each scholarship consists of a € 1200 / week stipend for a maximum duration of up to three months. The Mundus MAPP Consortium selects, and forwards to the European Commission for approval, three or four scholars each year (assuming 3-month-long grant periods).

Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available to academics who are:

  • Selected by the Mundus MAPP Consortium based on their outstanding academic and/or professional experience through the selection process described below;
  • Are employed by an institution of higher education in any country except:
    • Member States of the European Union
    • EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein)
    • Turkey
    • The Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia)
    • Switzerland.

Application and selection process

The Mundus MAPP Academic Board will select outstanding scholars according to the following criteria: - Academic excellence including prominence in the field and publication record; - Potential contribution to the Mundus MAPP course including relevance of the expertise and experience; - Teaching abilities - successful applicants will be able to deliver high quality courses in English; - Contribution to diversity (disciplinary and geographic background) and the potential for future collaboration with the Mundus MAPP Consortium. Interested scholars are required to apply to the Mundus MAPP Consortium by e-mail (to mundusmapp@ceu.hu) or post by March 16, 2010. We encourage electronic applications.

In case available funding is not exhausted a second, subsequent round of applications is possible. The application should include:

  • Completed Application Form – available at http://www.mundusmapp.org/visiting/scholar.doc;
  • Curriculum Vitae with list of publications and taught courses;
  • Two letters of recommendation;
  • Sample publications in English (maximum 3).

Shortlisted candidates may subsequently be interviewed by a member of the Mundus MAPP Academic Board. The final decision will be communicated to the applicants in May 2010. Academic visits may start as early as September 2010, and continue during the academic year.
