Summer School on Poverty and Social Exlusion in Three Dimensions: Multidimensional, Longitudinal and Small Area Estimation
This summer school is organised by UNIPI‐DEM, University of PISA and will take place from 21 until 25 July 2014.
Poverty and inequality remain at the top of the global economic agenda, and the methodology of measuring poverty continues to be a key area of research. This summer school offers an introduction to the key concepts and an up to date survey of traditional and new methods for estimating poverty and social exclusion, with a special focus to the local level, as well as the most recent multidimensional methods of the dynamics of poverty, with a focus on using the methodology for the construction of time‐related measures of deprivation at the individual and aggregated levels. The central aim of the program is to enhance the abilities of students in analysing poverty and social exclusion phenomena at different levels: definition of the indicators, mapping of local/regional distribution of them and longitudinal and temporal perspective on the phenomena.

Winter School on Intergenerational Inequalities
Organised by CEPS, this winter school will take place in Brussels from 3 until 5 November 2014. It is aimed both at policy practitioners and early stage researchers.
Inequality has become one of the biggest social, economic and political challenges of our time. Yet, policymakers remain reluctant to confront it head on. This winter school aims to create a bridge between the state‐of‐the‐art literature and political perceptions of this issue. Over 2.5 days inequality will be looked at from different angles and in relation to specific topics, such as:
- intergenerational justice and welfare state,
- education,
- corruption, and politics
- finance.
Further the relationship between social and spatial mobility will be discussed, with a focus on Roma.
