The seminar and book launch organized by London Metropolitan University's Working Lives Research Institute is one of the outputs of the research project 'How transferable is the French social model? French multinational companies and their influence on the evolution of industrial relations in Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland, 1998-2007 (DARES)'. The volume, published by Palgrave Macmillan and edited by Sylvie Contrepois, Violaine Delteil, Patrick Dieuaide and Steve Jeffreys addresses the following questions: How has foreign investment helped transform the ten former Communist members of the European Union? What role have MNCs based in France, Germany and the US played in changing work and employment relations? What impact have the European Social Model and European Works Councils had? Is foreign direct investment a new colonialism or a real boost to the region? The publication includes a chapter 'French MNCs in Hungary' by CPS's Violetta Zentai and Linda Szabo.
