International Migration, Integration and Social Justice in Europe:
Sharing Perspectives between Academia and Civil Society

The Human Rights Institute at the University of Deusto is happy to announce the final conference of the INTEGRIM research training program in conjunction with the Scribani Network's bi-annual conference on July 6-8, 2016 in Bilbao.

INTEGRIM (Integration and International Migration: Pathways and Integration Policies) is a Seventh Framework Programme research training network at eight academic partner institutions and six non academic partners fostering a multidisciplinary research career on international migration and integration within the European Union and neighbouring countries.

Scribani is a European Academic Jesuit Network of sixteen institutes from eleven countries established in 2004 as part of the University Centre Saint-Ignatius Antwerp, Belgium. Scribani aims at fostering European integration, by operating as a reflection forum for academia and civil society.

The 2016 Conference focuses on the integration of public policies and processes experienced by international migrants in the European context and beyond. It aims to combine both academic and grass-roots best practices and perspectives to enrich the knowledge, discussion and outcome of the conference in terms of policy change.

Given the concern regarding integration and migration throughout Europe, there is an urgent need to rethink the policy approach and the ways in which social movements may contribute to this. The integration of migrants is a test case for social cohesion and justice and offers a lens through which to engage in a critical analysis of European societies, fueling public debate and furthering the issue in concrete action and policy.

Integrim-Scribani Film Festival

As part of the conference there is an INTEGRIM-SCRIBANI 2016 documentary event on July 8th between 9 pm. - 11 pm. that brings together film makers and researchers. Some of the researchers are debutant as film makers, aiming to engage a wider audience with their research topics.

Program and more information about the conference is available at the conference website.
