IWM fellowship opportunities for 2014/2015

The Vienna based Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen (IWM) has published several new calls for application.

 

Paul Celan Fellowships 2014/2015 for translators

The program supports translations of canonical texts, contemporary key works in the humanities, social sciences and cultural studies from Eastern to Western European languages or vice versa, or between two Eastern European languages. Special emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authors and/or female scholars. No applications for works of fiction and poetry are being accepted.

Fellows will spend 3 – 6 months between July 2014 and June 2015 at the IWM in Vienna and receive a monthly stipend of EUR 2,050 to cover all expenses related to the stay in Vienna. The IWM provides fellows with an office incl. access to internet, in-house research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.

Bronislaw Geremek Fellowships 2014/2015

The program will enable Polish senior and junior researchers to work on a research project of their choice at the IWM. The fellowships are open to all academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

Fellows will spend ten months from September 2014 to June 2015 at the IWM to pursue their research projects while working in residence. Senior Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend of EUR 3,800 per month, Junior Visiting Fellows will receive a stipend of EUR 1,800 per month and are provided with an office, access to e-mail and internet, research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.

Junior Visiting Fellowship 2014/2015 for Scholars from Ukraine

This program for one younger Ukrainian scholar supports research on the legacies of Europe in the history of Ukraine. Topics include modern intellectual, cultural, social and political history.

The Fellow will spend 10 months from September 2014 through June 2015 at the IWM in Vienna and receive a stipend to cover all expenses related to the stay in Vienna. The IWM provides fellows with an office incl. access to internet, in-house research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.

Alexander Herzen Junior Visiting Fellowships 2014/2015

Applications accepted: January 1 – February 28, 2014

The Alexander Herzen Junior Fellowship program is geared towards younger scholars in the humanities and social sciences from the Siberian, Ural and Far-Eastern districts of Russia, and the Voronezh, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Ryazan and Kaluga regions.

Fellows will spend six months between July 2014 and June 2015 at the IWM in Vienna and receive a stipend of EUR 12,700 to cover all expenses related to the stay in Vienna. The IWM provides fellows with an office incl. access to internet, in-house research and administrative facilities as well as other services free of charge.
