A public conference hosted by the CEU Center for Policy Studies and the Open Society Institute.

The UN Independent Expert on minority issues, Ms Gay McDougall, was appointed in July 2005 by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The Independent Expert undertook a country visit to Hungary from 26 June until 3 July 2006 at the invitation of the Government of Hungary. Ms. McDougall wished to take this opportunity to consult with representatives of Roma organizations and communities, and others working in the field of Roma issues, in order to further her understanding on the situation of Roma in Hungary.
