Professor Diane Stone splits her professional activities between Australia and Europe.

In Australia, she is the Centenary Professor of Governance at the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis, The University of Canberra.  Her research is focused on global policy and transnational administration.

At CEU, Diane Stone was the University's European Commission Fp6 Marie Curie Chair. In this role she was Foundation Professor of Public Policy from 2004-08 and was based in the Centre for Policy Studies. She established and was the first director of CEUs first Master's Program in Public Policy (MPP) in 2004 introducing 'global public policy' as a core theme.  During this time, she designed the Mundus MAPP two-year degree and secured European Commission Erasmus Mundus scholarships and funding for the first 5 years.  In 2008 she co-chaired the CEU committee that designed the blue-print for the School of Public Policy at CEU and was involved in its launch until 2011.

Diane Stone is Professor (since 2006) at the University of Warwick in the Department of Politics and International Studies. Through Warwick and a European Commission Horizon 2020 grant, Professor Stone is now part of the EL-CSID consortium - European Leadership in Cultural, Science and Innovation Diplomacy - with head-quarters at the Vrije Universitat Brussels.  

Professor Stone has held an appointment at the World Bank in Washington DC. in 1999. She was a member of the Secretariat that launched the Global Development Network subsequently becoming a member of its Governing Body for three years. She was centrally involved in the establishment of the GDN as an intergovernmental organisation.

For 10 years until 2012, she was a member of the Council of the Overseas Development Institute - a London based think tank.  

For four years from 2005 she was co-editor of Global Governance: A Review of Multilateralism and International Institutions which is sponsored by ACUNS - the Academic Council of the United Nations System.
