The Effects of Reducing Social Allowance in Rural Hungary - A qualitative inquiry

August 15, 2013

The research project run by the Pro-Cserehat Association in 2012-2013 aimed to explore the consequences of legislative changes in Hungarian social aid regulations since January 2012.

The legislative change had significant impact on the life of rural Roma and non-Roma populations in underprivileged regions of the country. The following is the excerpt of the studies in social psychology, anthropology, and sociology using the raw material of the interviews conducted as part of the empirical research project. That is followed by a legal analysis matching domestic and international legislation concerning the changes of the social allowance.
