Civil society groups: Czech Republic’s Roma Strategy needs implementing

The recently-released second Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) report on the implementation of the Czech Republic’s National Roma Integration Strategy (NRIS) has found that while the NRIS identifies ethnic discrimination as a problem in many areas of Romani life, solutions directly addressing this aspect of inclusion have yet to be implemented. The Government should be encouraged to continue furthering the Strategy especially in this regard.

A new open access article has been published in the framework of the TROPICO project (Transforming into Open, Innovative and Collaborative Governments), authors are CEU CPS researchers Agnes Batory and Sara Svensson. EU-wide, Roma civil society begins its third year of integration assessments

The year 2020 will mark the final year of the current EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies (NRIS), within which Member States have developed their Roma integration policies. Since 2012 the Commission has been reporting annually on the implementation of the NRIS by the Member States, and since 2016 the Member States have been reporting on their implementation to the European Commission themselves.

Civil society groups: Slovakia’s Roma Strategy is a good place to start for desegregation

The recently released Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) assessment of the implementation of Slovakia’s National Roma Integration Strategy (NRIS) has found that while the state is willing to adopt policies promoting the inclusion of disadvantaged people generally such as introducing free universal lunch in kindergarten and primary school, desegregating the education system needs to become more of a priority, and the National Roma Integration Strategy could be an important guide.

Roma Civil Monitor: new reports available for the Czech Republic, Germany and the UK

Three more countries have finalized their reports focusing on the key policy areas of education, employment, healthcare and housing: the Czech Republic, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The reports were prepared in the frame of the 2nd monitoring cycle of the Roma Civil Monitor project which investigates progress assessment in key policy areas of the national Roma integration strategy.
