Roma civil society: Sweden has to invest in implementing its well-designed Roma strategy

The second Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) report for Sweden has found that despite well-meaning efforts to report on problems faced by the Roma minority and authorities willing to consult with Roma representatives on decision-making, the well-written National Roma Integration Strategy 2012-2032 (NRIS) lacks action plans, funding, and monitoring of its implementation. The goals of the NRIS cannot be achieved without compulsory, specific, well-funded policy provisions.

The second Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) report on Latvia has found that there are no specific national measures aimed at reducing unemployment among the Roma and the direct impact of various active labour market policies on Roma cannot be identified because the efficiency of such measures is not being assessed.

Roma civil society: The Netherlands must first do no harm when implementing inclusion

The second Roma Civil Monitor (RCM) report for the Netherlands has found that while the authorities have developed measures for implementing its equivalent of a National Roma Integration Strategy (NRIS), many are not just unsuccessful, but actually harmful to the Roma community. Access to the labour market is difficult for ethnic minorities generally, and the report finds even educated Roma face exclusion in the Netherlands due to inequality and sometimes due to statelessness.
